prairie rose

it would have been moreso, had i been able to coerce my sister into driving a little ways out by the dairy farms near my house, rather than snapping some photos of me in the front and back yards of my suburban home. i am hoping this will be the first and last of the photos set in the yard, as peeks of dirty swimming pools and children's toys do not make for aesthetically pleasing backdrops. i was slightly regretting this outfit choice today, considering that this short silk dress did not stand well against the unexpected wind. thank goodness i was wearing shorts underneath and had a cardigan for covering up! i absolutely adore this dress. as soon as i showed it to my mother, she commented that it reminded her of the house dresses she remembered her mother wearing in the 1950's, which made me love it even more! that is, after all, exactly the look that i was going for: young, southern housewife.

for this summer, i would really like to buy a lot of uber feminine items. bows, floral, ruffles, lace, silk, eyelet, hats and headbands with netted veils and all in light pink, cream, white, pale yellow and sky blue. ahh, to be a pear tree--any tree in bloom!
